The Mediterranean Maxi Inshore Challenge

The International Maxi Association is formally recognized by World Sailing as representing the interests of maxi boat owners at international level and it’s thanks to this recognition that it’s possible to hold two famous world championships, respectively for the Maxi 72 class and the J class.

Recently the International Maxi Association has supported the Mediterranean Maxi Offshore Challenge (MMOC). A series of five annual events that begins with the ”Rolex Middle Sea Race” in October and ends with the ”Palermo-Montecarlo” in August.

Given the great success of the competition, the Meditterranean Maxi Inshore Challenge will be organized this year.

The Mediterranean Maxi Inshore Challenge, unlike its offshore counterpart, will take place in a calendar year. The departure is scheduled with the ”Sail Racing Palmavela” in May to end with ”Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez” in October.

The MMIC 2019 will include:

Sail Racing PalmaVela (Palma, Mallorca) 8-12 May
The Rolex Capri Sailing Week (Capri, Italy) 15-18 May
Rolex Giraglia inshores (Saint-Tropez, France) 9-11 June
Copa del Rey MAPFRE (Palma, Mallorca) 27 July - 3 August
Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup (Porto Cervo, Sardinia) 1-7 September
Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez (Saint-Tropez, France) 28 September - 6 October

Competitors will have to compete in at least four of these events to qualify for the final scoreboard. Of course, participants who wish to compete in more events can only validate the four best scores.
